Drains are Streams
Our new project "Drains are Streams," is dedicated to restoring waterways. By adopting a drain and improving stormwater management, we can safeguard our precious biodiversity like endangered freshwater fish and tuna, long-fin eel.
In 2017, 76 percent of our native freshwater fish were either threatened with or at risk of extinction. This is a devastating statistic, and it's one that we can't afford to ignore.

Gift a Shag
It's not too late to get a shag for Christmas!
Everyone who gets a shag will receive an official adoption certificate for the critically endangered Chatham Shag, and a factsheet about this wonderful bird.
To adopt a shag, please click below to make a donation. You can get a shag for yourself or gift it to a friend. You will receive your receipt automatically and after this, we will email you your adoption certificate and link to the factsheet about your species.
Gift Ngutukākā
Once there were less than 100 ngutukākā, the kākābeak plant, left in the wild, but now, thanks to a small group of passionate, dedicated people on the East Coast, over 800 species were planted last year. We need your help to grow and plant more!
For just $50 you can plant five ngutukākā. We are aiming to raise $30,000 which would plant 3,000 ngutukākā.
Your donation will help plant more of these treasured plants and in return you will receive a beautiful e-card.
Tara iti, NZ Fairy Tern Protection Programme
The tara iti, New Zealand fairy tern is our most threatened bird and is in our Top Ten Most Endangered Species List. There are only nine breeding pairs left and the birds survive on the beaches between Whangarei and Auckland.
With your support we can work to stop sand mining, human disturbance and loss of marine life, which are major threats to these birds.
We Love You, Even If You're Ugly
At the Endangered Species Foundation we save the rarest of the rare. From giant weta fungus to the little known fuzzweed moth - we really do love you, even if you're ugly.
By adopting a little known creature in danger of extinction, your donation will go towards helping our most endangered taonga survive.
When you adopt a species, you will receive an official adoption certificate and link to the factsheet about your species from the Endangered Species Foundation.
Help save the world's smallest and rarest dolphin
The Māui Dolphin is one of the rarest and most endangered marine mammals in the world, with only an estimated 63 individuals left. Urgent action is needed to protect this species from extinction.
Your support can help fund research into the impacts of pollution and diseases on Māui dolphins and how these can be avoided. We will also draw attention to the issues facing the Māui dolphin, including destructive fishing practices and the solutions that are needed.
Cute Chicks Need Our Help
Every year on our beaches, in our forests and rivers, endangered birds are hatching. These places are their homes and their nurseries. There are many threats to these precious taonga, like wild and domestic cats, and dogs off-leash.
When you adopt a cute chick, you will receive an official adoption certificate and a link to a flyer about you can help keep cute chicks safe.
Your donation will go towards greater protections for some of our most vulnerable, native chicks.
