Sand mining hearings

The resource consent applications by McCallum Bros Limited to renew consents to extract sand from the coastal marine area of Pakiri Beach will be held from Wednesday, 27 July 2022 to Friday, 5 August 2022 at 9.30am in the Warkworth Town Hall, Omaha Marae, and Pakiri Hall.

The Endangered Species Foundation will be presenting at 3pm on Thursday 4 August, in the Warkworth Town Hall, to communicate the devastating effects that sand mining is having on the endangered tara iti, (New Zealand fairy tern) and 25 other at-risk or endangered birds that live in this area.

There is massive community opposition to these applications and hours of scientific evidence and local, witnessed experience will be presented.
