Meeting and Planning for the Ngutukaka project

Updated: Nov 27, 2023

This week we embarked on the most inspiring, real and heart-felt journey to the heart of Tairawhiti (East Cape) to meet the amazing people connected with the incredible Tairawhiti Ngutukaka project .

We finally made it after years of pandemic and extreme weather events, to hear from the people on the ground who have been educating, growing and planting ngutukk at kura, marae and along roadsides.

This is just the start of our journey to restore this taonga species to an entire coast that used to bloom red! There is much more to come including a video and a first time, Ngutukk Festival in 2024. So watch this space tickets will be limited and in high demand, for some very special #endangeredspecies garden tours, found nowhere else on earth.
