Tāngaro Tuia te Ora | Endangered Species Foundation is proud to share our first Impact Report showing what’s possible when communities, partners, and supporters come together for the protection of our most threatened species and their habitats.
From the start, our kaupapa has been grounded in collaboration and this past year (1 July 2024 - 30 June 2025) has shown the strength of that approach. Thanks to the unwavering support of our community — from monthly donors who sustain our daily mahi, to major funders who enable us to elevate priority projects, to the trusts and foundations who back our vision — we’ve achieved milestones that will have lasting impacts for te taiao.
To our board and advisors, who gift their expertise and networks to guide our direction; to iwi and hapū, who lead with mātauranga Māori at the heart of restoration; to project partners and conservation allies; and to every individual who signs petitions, shares our stories, and raises their voice — ngā mihi nui ki a koutou.
Together, we have:
Protected the future of the tara iti, Aotearoa’s most endangered bird, through direct conservation action and advocacy to stop sandmining in their fragile habitat.
Launched Awhi Awa | Embrace a Stream, a nationwide freshwater restoration project reconnecting urban communities with their local waterways.
Amplified protection efforts for Māui and Hector’s dolphins, collaborating with key organisations nationwide.
Supported the Tairāwhiti Ngutukākā Project, hosting the first-ever Ngutukākā Festival and planting thousands of these endangered taonga plants.
These achievements remind us that while our resources are limited, our shared passion and commitment are immense. Across whenua, freshwater, and moana, we are bringing endangered species back from the brink — together.
This is the power of united action and this is just the beginning.
Ngā mihi nui ki a koutou - thank you all so much.
Together. Better.
